As I sit down to write this, I am recovering at home from the novel coronavirus. It all started with my annual nature detox trip to Jindal Nature Cure Institute back in Nov 2020. It’s kind of a health vacation that I look forward to since past few years — combination of crash diet, soups, fruits, and plethora of organic treatments replete with ayurvedic massages, enema, colon hydrotherapy, accupuncture and many more. …

Life lessons for surviving & thriving

Just finished reading this wonderful book by the daredevil survival maestro “Bear Grylls”. He is widely known for his famous survival television series called “Man v Wild” on Discovery channel. This book offers 75 fundamental lessons drawn from his life expeditions in a simple, yet relevant manner that can provide succour to many in these extremely dynamic times.

In his own words, “Sometimes light can be tough, but I hope this can serve as a good route map to guide you through the challenges and on towards your dreams. …

You’ve just landed a job interview for a position you really want. Congratulations.

What the Experts Say

One common piece of advice is to “take charge” of the interview. According to Claudio Fernández-Aráoz, a senior adviser at Egon Zehnder International and the author of Great People Decisions, “You need to help interviewers do the right thing since most of them don’t follow best practices.” He has interviewed more than 20,000 candidates in his 26 years as a search consultant, and feels that most interviewers fall prey to unconscious biases and focus too heavily on experience rather than competence. …

Interviewing — Tell me about yourself (Part 1)

Last year, I was approached by Pongal dramatics committee with an unusual request: “to take part in their annual Pongal mythological drama and play the role of a villain”.

My first thought was, how could I? I have never performed on stage. And a villain on top? However, after a few nudges and dose of self-talk, I still said Yes with a deep sense of hesitation.

What followed was daily practice sessions, voice recording / dubbing, enacting our lines in…

Resurgence of e-commerce

Is this the demonetisation of “brick and mortar” moment?

As I write this, the global pandemic has entered more than 180 countries worldwide impacting > 2.5 million people and causing approximately 176,000 casualties. In US alone, 26.4 million Americans have filed for unemployment since the crisis began. Closer to home here in India, we are in a complete lockdown mode since March 25 (31 days and counting) and millions of people have been advised to stay indoors.

WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros, cautioned that “we have a long way to go. He added that “the world cannot go back to the…
